The latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s grittiest series has finally arrived, and this Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 6 recap reveals an hour of television that is as heartbreaking as it is bone-crunching. Titled “Requiem,” the episode picks up in the immediate, suffocating aftermath of Vanessa Fisk’s death, a loss that effectively removes the last leash on the Mayor of New York. Wilson Fisk has always been a man of extremes, but without Vanessa to anchor his humanity, we witness a version of the Kingpin that is more volatile and terrifying than ever before. The premiere moments of the episode set a dark tone when a grieving Fisk kills a doctor with a literal bear hug—a chilling display of raw strength and emotional instability that signals the end of any “civilized” persona he once maintained.

While Fisk drapes himself in a symbolic white suit for the funeral, standing in stark contrast to the mourning crowd, the real shockwaves of the episode come from a suburban household far from the skyscrapers of Manhattan. In a moment that has sent social media into a frenzy, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones has officially stormed back into the MCU. We find her attempting a quiet life as a mother to young Danielle, a beautiful nod to the comics, but that peace is shattered when CIA-linked agents raid her home. Watching Jessica defend her daughter in socks and sweats—using her signature brute force to toss goons through walls—is the kind of high-octane fan service that feels earned rather than forced. It is immediately clear that retirement hasn’t dulled her edge or her sarcasm.

The narrative threads tighten as Jessica’s path inevitably crosses with Matt Murdock’s. Their rooftop reunion is a masterclass in character chemistry, blending Matt’s brooding intensity with Jessica’s cynical wit. She brings vital intel regarding the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) and their connection to a larger conspiracy involving the mysterious Mr. Charles, played with a frantic energy by Matthew Lillard. This information leads to the episode’s centerpiece: a spectacular team-up fight at an AVTF weapons depot. The contrast in their fighting styles is a visual treat; Daredevil moves with the grace of a gymnast and the precision of a surgeon, while Jessica simply levels anything in her path. Seeing them dismantle a weapons cache together feels like a love letter to the original Defenders era while firmly planting its feet in the current MCU stakes.

Back in the political trenches of the city, the chaos is spreading. Matt Murdock, ever the optimist in the face of darkness, attempts a high-stakes peace offering by sneaking into Fisk’s office. He appeals to the Kingpin’s grief, hoping to find a shred of the man who loved Vanessa, but the encounter quickly turns physical. Fisk’s dismissal of Matt’s “no-kill rule” highlights the fundamental ideological rift between them. Fisk isn’t interested in a truce; he is interested in a funeral for everyone who ever crossed him. This tension is mirrored in the streets, where Karen Page goes undercover at a protest against the AVTF. In a heart-pounding cliffhanger, Karen’s disguise fails, leading to her capture at gunpoint by Officer Powell. The stakes for the upcoming finale could not be higher.

”Requiem” succeeds because it balances massive lore reveals with intimate character studies. We see the political vultures circling Fisk as the Governor prepares Sheila Rivera to replace him, and we see Bullseye continuing his own fractured journey in the background. Every frame of this episode feels intentional, from the pineapple juice callbacks to the visual metaphor of a torn painting in Fisk’s office. As we move toward the final episodes of the season, the return of Jessica Jones provides the necessary muscle and mystery to help Matt Murdock face an unleashed Kingpin. If you are watching on Disney+, this episode is the definitive turning point that proves Daredevil: Born Again is not just a revival, but a bold new chapter that isn’t afraid to break its heroes and villains alike.
